So, how do you know when your social development program is a success? How do you determine whether your program is worth all the efforts put into it?
A ‘one size fits all’ approach is not good enough. Every project or organization needs an approach that suits it best. Further, it often helps to evaluate the possibilities by using different approaches and thus to view the chances of success from an holistic point of view.
The method of assessment that is made within an assignment can be auditorial or inspirational, scientific or as a quick scan, at project level or at policy level. The tools can be used for decision making purposes or as monitoring tool, for the short term judgment or long term decisions.
Bottom up Approach
New Yardsticks® applies various methods of approach to identify the opportunity, creation and advancement of social development programs. One of the approaches applied when evaluating the critical factors of opportunities at the grassroots level is by using its 5A’s track. However, if the impact of a project needs to be measured, New Yardsticks® applies the method of Social Return on Investments (SROI). These 5A’s track are discussed further along at the next level.
Creating awareness of the possibilities of success at all levels within the Corporate organizations, (Non)-Governmental organizations, and other companies in the Western World is just as important as using skills and education training at the grassroots level.
New Yardsticks® collaborates with partners to set up Leadership Programs. These programs are geared for an overall development of leadership. The basis is viewed as a radical departure from traditional leadership method towards gaining insights in an ‘out of the box’ and hands-on or learning-by-doing process of gaining knowledge and skills.
Master Classes on SROI
New Yardsticks® draws on the same philosophy when applying skills and education trainings that are provided during Master Classes. The aim of the Master Class is to equip the trainees with tools to measure the impact and thus the success of their initiatives in social development programs. New Yardsticks® adds value to the programs by helping the stakeholders measure the results with the Social Return on Investment (SROI) yardsticks.
